11 new YA releases coming September 2022

I haven’t made a new releases list for a little while, and I do get so much joy from making them (even if my bank account doesn’t enjoy the pre-order shenanigans). So with Summer heading out the door, a change in the season is the perfect time to grab a new book (from your local store, or from the library) and disappear inside its pages.

For this list I’m focusing on new Young Adult titles because I’ve recently had a renewed love for the genre.

‘The Ballad of Never After’ (Once Upon A Broken Heart #2) by Stephanie Garber - 13th September - The highly anticipated follow-up to the TikTok sensation that was ‘Once Upon A Broken Heart’. Spells, treachery, diffiuclt decisions, and promises to be a great sequel!

'Foul Lady Fortune’ by Chloe Gong - 27th September - Another TikTok runaway success, this is Chloe Gong’s next duology hot on the heels of fan fave ‘These Violet Delights’. Yes, I have it. Nope, I haven’t read it yet. I’m probably going to buy ‘Foul Lady Fortune’ too because the cover is gorgeous and its set in an elaborated 1930’s Japan. So yes. I need it.

‘Kingdom of the Feared’ (Kingdom of the Wicked #3) by Kerri Maniscalco - 27th September - Here comes the conclusion to this trilogy which walks more on the dark side (and I like that). It’s another on my TBR but I have a good feeling about it. If you’ve read and enjoyed the other two it makes sense to finish off the series.

‘Self-Made Boys: A Great Gatsby Remix’ by Anna-Marie McLemore - KINDLE EDITION 7th September - This sounds so interesting and I have an itch in my fingers to own this book and hold it in my hands (coming in physical copies October) but if you can’t wait that long it will be on Kindle early September. Featuring two main characters who are transgender this retelling sounds fantastic and I need it.

‘The Fake Dating Trope’ by Jennifer Ann Shore - KINDLE UNLIMITED 1st September - This is one of my fave tropes. I love it in films, I love it in books… It just hits the right spots you know? You can also buy this on Kindle (not sure about physical copies) but it looks like a lot of fun.

‘Rust in the Root’ by Justina Ireland - 20th September - If you’re a fan of ‘Dread Nation’ and historically set reads with strong POVs then this book is for you. I love the sound of this; the blurb is long so I suggest you go give it a proper once over, but it’s got magic and political intrigue and a unique perspective.

‘How to Succeed in Witchcraft’ by Aislinn Brophy - 27th September - This one comes out just in time for spooky season and I love the cover, first off. It instantly gives off the right kind of vibes. Billed as a contemporary YA fantasy and also tagged as queer, this looks like one heck of a debut.

‘Timberdark’ (Wranglestone #2) by Darren Charlton - 1st September - I love the art direction for this series. ‘Wranglestone’ came home with me as soon as I saw the cover. ‘Timberdark’ is the hotly anticipated follow-up.

‘Funeral Girl’ by Emma K Ohland - 6th September - My gosh. When I saw the cover I needed to know more. And the blurb just gives me everything I was hoping. This one is PERFECT for Halloween, but it’s a YA that’s dark but full of heart. I think it’ll tread the line perfectly (from the summary).

‘Shades of Rust and Ruin’ by A. G. Howard - 6th September - You know A. G. Howard’s books. Trust me, you might think that you don’t and then you see the covers and you’ll know because for a long time her spellbinding writing (and equally entrancing covers) infiltrated bookstagram and books twitter. Anyway, Howard is back with a new duology. Get into it. Yuh.

‘Mere Mortals’ by Erin Jade Lange - 27th September - This. Book. Sounds. Hilarious. And I need it. Two vampires turned mortal and forced to live as modern day teenagers? Yeah, this book is going stright into my basket. Just in time for spooky season too!

What are you eager to read off this list?
