I’m in my cowboy romance era and these 9 books are on my TBR

I don’t know how I ended up here, but I’m two weeks and three books into my cowboy romance era and I don’t seem to be leaving anytime soon…

The whole ‘alpha male manly man’ thing doesn’t always work for me, but in this context it really does. I love the small town, country vibes of the ranches and farms; I love the big boisterous, close-knit families, and the focus on community. It ticks a lot of comfort read boxes for me and I’m just rolling with it.

I basically abandoned my spooky TBR for October and fell right into romance. I’m not mad about it - as long as I’m reading it’s all gravy.

My only complaint about cowboy romances? The covers are TERRIBLE. More bright, illustrated covers like other romance novels, please.

  • ‘Swift and Saddled’ by Lyla Sage - I adored ‘Done and Dusted’ and so I’m eagerly awaiting book two in the series. I loved it so much that I pre-ordered the paperbacks.

  • ‘Flawless’ by Elsie Silver - this kind of stands in for the ‘Chestnut Springs’ series as a whole as I’m currently 80% of the way through book two and I’m obsessed.

  • ‘Rein Me In’ by Kayla Gosse - a cowboy romance with a plus size protagonist?! I am beside myself with excitement for this; the heroines in these novels are usually tiny waifs.

  • ‘Breathe for Me’ by Brittany Ann - this duology comes up in cowboy romance lists constantly and I’m intrigued, but the synopsis doesn’t give much apart from the usual Hallmark set up of a big company trying to buy a family ranch.

  • ‘Off-Limits Cowboy’ by Kristine W Joy - a brother’s best friend romance! I’m a big fan of this trope in contemporary romance, so I’m excited to see it take place on a ranch.

  • ‘Long Hard Ride’ by Lorelei James - there are 16 books in this series. 16! And apparently I bought the first book back in 2015 and never read it… That’ll be changing soon.

  • ‘Off to the Races’ by Elsie Silver - considering how much I’m loving the ‘Chestnut Springs’ series, this was inevitable.

  • ‘Buck Wild’ by Lauren Landish - this is another hugely popular series and we have another bull rider coming up against a vet. Plus, the heroine has my name! Talk about full immersion.

  • ‘Taming Him’ by Kennedy Fox - so this is about a cowboy, but it’s set in Key West with the cowboy on holiday so I’m curious to see what kind of vibes I’ll be getting from this.

Have you ever had a cowboy romance era? Does it just turn into a cowboy romance lifetime?
