13 romance reads for spooky season (cosy fiction for fall)
I've been on such a big romance kick lately. As a mood reader I definitely go through phases and right now I'm riding that romance train all the way to the end of the line cos part of me is worried there's only a reading slump waiting for me at the last stop.
But with spooky season upon us, I've been craving something cozy and spooky and with a splash of romance too. Because that, to me, sounds like the perfect potion.
So, here's a list of Halloween-esque romance reads I have on my TBR. Some are a little older, some are totally brand new to me! I really wanted to include Ali Hazelwood's ‘Bride' but it's not out until February. The audacity.
Without further ado…
‘Enchanted to Meet You’ by Meg Cabot - THE Meg Cabot of ‘The Princess Diaries'. So you know this one has to be good.
‘Go Hex Yourself' by Jessica Clare - An enemies-to-lovers romcom. I love the sass this book boasts.
‘Witcha Gonna Do' by Avery Flynn - A fun, flirty and spicy romcom series… I'm so intrigued.
‘This Spells Disaster' by Tori Ann Martin - Fake dating with a magical twist. It's one of my favourite tropes so I'm excited to see it with a spellbinding spin on it.
‘The Vampire in the Bookstore' by Elle M Drew - This was on of those Kindle Unlimited novellas that I just couldn't resist. It's already sitting on my Kindle, waiting…
‘Babylove’ by I S Belle - Pitched as a dark, sapphic, YA romance. Hello. Yes. Another novella to easily devour on a spooky evening.
‘Payback's a Witch’ by Lana Harper - One of the more well-known titles on this list. I've had my eye on it for a while now.
‘Happily Haunted Afters’ by Brittany Kelley - Definitely more on the cozy side of spooky, but I really like the idea of the haunted house trope brought into a modern romance narrative. In a cute way. Maybe?
‘A Witches Guide to Fake Dating a Demon' by Sarah Hawley - I love how this just checks all the boxes in the title alone. What you see is what you get. At least, I hope.
‘Hex Appeal' by Kate Johnson - The puns in these book titles bring me so much joy. Billed as a “laugh out loud apoosites attract” tale. I mean, I don't think I've ever laughed out loud while reading… But there's always a chance.
‘Witchful Thinking' by Celestine Martin - I LOVE the cover for this book. I didn't need to know anything else. Cozy, small town romance with a sprinkle of something magical. Yes.
‘Love in the Time of Serial Killers' by Alicia Thompson - As someone who has dabbled in serial killer podcasts and deeply disturbing paranormal investigations… This speaks to me.
‘My Roommate Is a Vampire' by Jenna Levine - I know Sophie really enjoyed this book so I have great faith that I will love it too.
13… Cos it's a spooky number. Gettit?
What are you reading this fall?
