16 more books for fans of Romantic Fantasy (or Spicy Romantasy)

Does Romantasy have staying power as a genre heading? I’m not sure. I’ve seen so many categories come and go (because yes, I'm an OAB, Old Aged Blogger) and anything popular on Booktok feels so fleeting that nothing seems to hang around long enough to truly appreciate it.

That said Romantic Fantasy or Fantasy Romance are terms that have been thrown about since the beginnings of the modern bookshop.

We’re deep in the Romantasy renaissance right now, with Sarah J Maas's ACOTAR and Rebecca Yarros's ‘Fourth Wing’ still taking the reading world by storm.

It’s only natural that if you loved those books, you want more of the same. However, what tends to happen is the genre or “buzzword” gets slapped onto the cover of a book, or positioned in the tagline for better SEO whether or not it’s a true depictstion of the story or not.

What I’m offering you here are 16 titles. Some are every much spicy Romantasy that you’ve come to expect and others might seem a bit more removed. However, in my opinion these all have the right vibe and are really solid reads.

  1. ‘Immortal Dark’ by Tigest Girma

  2. ‘Gothikana' by RuNyx

  3. ‘Ninth House’ by Leigh Bardugo

  4. ‘Iron Widow's by Xiran Jay Zhao

  5. ‘A Lesson in Thorns’ by Sierra Simone

  6. ‘A Touch of Darkness' by Scarlett St Clair

  7. ‘A King of Battle and Blood’ by Scarlett St Clair

  13. ‘Quicksilver’ by Callie Hart

  14. ‘Neon Gods' by Katee Robert

  15. ‘Bride’by Ali Hazelwood

A real mixed bag to choose from, I think!
