8 February releases to add to your TBR
My January TBR got a little steamrollered by the monumental reading slump that ‘Onyx Storm’ caused me for the latter part of the month. I’m still not over it, I may never be over it, I’m devastated that we’re probably going to have to wait at least two years before the release of book four, but I’m reading again. Finally.
I feel like I’m mostly back on the reading train again which is good because there’s some big authors releasing books in February, and I have several of them pre-ordered and some that I’m waiting on reviews before I dive in, but I’m intrigued by them all.
‘Deep End’ by Ali Hazelwood
4th February, Sphere
A competitive diver and an ace swimmer jump into forbidden waters in this steamy college romance from the Sunday Times and New York Times bestselling author of ‘The Love Hypothesis’.
I adore Ali Hazelwood and I’ll read anything and everything she writes.
‘Hungerstone’ by Kat Dunn
6th February, Manilla Press
Set against the violent wilderness of the Peaks and the uncontrolled appetite of the Industrial Revolution, ‘Hungerstone’ is a compulsive sapphic reworking of ‘Carmilla’, the book that inspired ‘Dracula’: a captivating story of appetite and desire.
This is the third title for this season of our podcast, The Dark Academicals, so I’ll be reading this in the next week and I’m excited! The Waterstones Exclusive edition was released early and it’s a stunner.
‘Emily Wilde’s Compendium of Lost Tales’ by Heather Fawcett (13)
11th February, Orbit
The third instalment in the enchanting light academia Emily Wilde books, about a curmudgeonly scholar of folklore and the fae prince she loves, from Sunday Times bestselling author Heather Fawcett.
I have to admit that I’m behind on this series as I haven’t read book two yet, but I hate waiting for the next instalment in a series so that works for me! I didn’t love book one, but I liked it enough to finish out the trilogy.
‘First Time Caller’ by BK Borrison
13th February, Macmillan
A hopeless romantic meets a demoralized radio host in this cosy, ‘Sleepless in Seattle’ inspired love story from fan-favourite author of the ‘Lovelight’ series, B.K. Borison.
This will be my first read by BK Borrison - I know, I’m late to the party. It was the ‘Sleepless in Seattle’ comp that got me on this one!
‘I Got Abducted by Aliens and Now I’m Trapped in a Rom-Com’ by Kimberley Lemming
18th February, Berkley
A hilarious and sexy romance about a woman who gets dropped on a strange planet only to fall for not one, but two, aliens, from the author of ‘I Got Drunk and Yeeted a Love Potion at a Werewolf’.
I really enjoyed ‘That Time I Got Drunk and Saved a Demon’ so I’m looking forward to this. It promises some really silly fun.
‘All Our Tomorrows’ by Amy DeBellis (25)
25th February, CLASH Books
In Amy DeBellis’ debut novel, ‘The Hours’ meets ‘My Year of Rest and Relaxation’ as, sometime in the near future, three Gen Z women ride the throes of late capitalist life in New York City.
I’m a sucker for a near future novel that examines womanhood and capitalism so I’m excited for this. I also really, really love the cover of this one.
‘Greenteeth’ by Molly O’Neill (25)
25th February, Orbit
Narrated by a lake-dwelling monster, ‘Greenteeth’ is an utterly charming tale of fae, folklore and found family, perfect for fans of T. Kingfisher.
I don’t need to explain why I want to read this now that you’ve read the tagline above, right? Pretty self-explanatory.
‘Show Don’t Tell: Stories’ by Curtis Sittenfeld
27th February, Transworld
Witty, confronting and full of tenderness, Sittenfeld peels back layer after layer of our inner lives, keeping us riveted to the page with her utterly distinctive voice. Razor-sharp, glittering tales exploring marriage, fame and female friendship, from the Sunday Times and New York Times bestselling author of ‘Romantic Comedy’ and ‘American Wife’.
I have a mixed relationship with Sittenfeld’s stories, but this collection has a story that takes us back to the world of ‘Prep’ so I’m eager to see where Lee Fiora finds herself as an adult.
February may be the shortest month of the year, but there’s plenty of reading time ahead!
What’s on your TBR for this month?
