6 festive books on my Christmas TBR

I know it’s only the middle of November but I’m already channeling my inner Christmas elf.

I’m knee deep in Hallmark Christmas movies (I’m reviewing them as I go over on Twitter if you need some recommendations!), I’ve bought way too many new decorations and have a tub of Celebrations ready to go. I’m thinking you’re probably not surprised that I have a festive December TBR ready to go, right?

I have some DELIGHTFUL reads scheduled for December so I’m really hoping that my November reading slump disappears asap so I can get in the Christmas mood.

  • ‘The Christmas Carrolls’ by Mel Taylor-Bessent - this middle grade debut is about a family who celebrate Christmas all year round. When Holly moves to a new school where her Christmas spirit isn’t shared, she discovers a group of kids who might not get a Christmas at all and her festive cheer is put at risk. This sounds so charming and lovely!

  • ‘The Christmas Chronicles’ by Nigel Slater - I know this is a cookbook, but bear with me. Nigel’s ruminations on winter, the holiday season, the atmosphere, food and family are interspersed with delish recipes as he counts down his diaries and to do lists through the winter. It’s gorgeous and calming and I listen to the audiobook every year.

  • ‘Stay Another Day’ by Juno Dawson - when three very different siblings, Fern, Rowan and Willow, go home for a Christmas reunion at their family home in Edinburgh, it's not long before some VERY BIG SECRETS threaten their cosy holiday. I love Juno and her books and I can’t wait to get stuck into this.

  • ‘In a Holidaze’ by Christina Lauren - this is the last Christmas Mae will be at her favourite place in the world - the snowy cabin where she and her family have spent every holiday since she was born. After making a wish, Mae finds herself reliving the beginning of her trip over and over again. Big Christina Lauren fan so I’m super excited for a Christmas romance.

  • ‘A Snowfall of Silver’ by Laura Wood - it’s 1931 and Freya runs away to Cornwall with the dream of becoming an actress. When she’s invited to join a theatre company and go on tour, will life and love live up to her expectations? I adore Laura Wood’s giddyingly romantic novels and I expect this to be no different.

  • ‘Wintering’ by Katherine May - a meditation on the times when we must retreat to care for and repair ourselves. Katherine May thoughtfully shows us how to come through these times with the wisdom of knowing that, like the seasons, our winters and summers are the ebb and flow of life. I need a bit of this in my life.

Are you a seasonal reader? Do you have any Christmassy reads lined up?
