6 spicy BookTok recs I’m dying to try

I don’t know what it says about Sarah and I, but our TikTok feed is swarmed with spicy reads. From Katee Robert to Elle Kennedy, ‘Ice Planet Barbarians’ to ‘Dick Fight Island’, there’s something spicy for everyone.

And I’d be lying if I said these books haven’t made their way onto my wishlist and TBR.

I’m not new to spicy books. Back in my day, it was just good ‘ole smut, but I really do love the term spicy, and it definitely fits a lot of the titles taking over BookTok. My realm of spice has always been college and sports romances, but I’m starting to branch out into a bit of everything.

Which leads me beautifully into the books on my radar…

  • ‘The Legacy’ by Elle Kennedy - this series is one of my OG spicy reads and after it blew up on BookTok, Elle Kennedy is revisiting all four of the original couples in a new book which collects four novellas set a few years after the originals. I. Am. Excited.

  • ‘From Blood and Ash’ by Jennifer L Armentrout - the book and series that I associate with BookTok, which I still haven’t read… I’ve read JLA before and her writing isn’t the best, but I really do like the sound of this fantasy romance and I’ll definitely read it eventually.

  • ‘Neon Gods’ by Katee Robert - yes, I know I just read ‘Desperate Measures’ and wasn’t entirely sold, but that doesn’t mean I’m not willing to give Robert another go! What can I saw, I’m a sucker for Greek mythology retellings. And Katee Robert writes seriously good spice.

  • ‘A Touch of Darkness’ by Scarlett St Clair - another Greek mythology inspired romance! We love a Persephone and Hades and this is super, super popular. Plus, I just noticed it’s £1.39 on Kindle so I may have to take the plunge…

  • ‘The Love Hypothesis’ by Ali Hazelwood - this fake dating romance between two scientists is a recent BookTok fave and I need it in my life. Fake dating, spice AND science? Count me in.

  • ‘It Happened One Summer’ by Tessa Bailey - a romance that’s sold as a ‘Schitt’s Creek’-inspired spicy romance? Erm, hello! I love the rich to poor trope. It always brings some good humour and character growth, and apparently spice now too!

Have you fallen into #smuttok yet?
