The Dark Academicals: vampire classics, haunted mansions and toxic friends in the season 4 line-up

The podcast where we delve into the mythos of dark academia, one book at a time.

Season 4 of ‘The Dark Academicals’ launches everywhere you listen to your podcasts on 7 February 2023! We’re so, so excited to be bringing you another season of this podcast - it continues to be such a dream project for us.

If you’re signed up to our newsletter (we have giveaways and Q&As!) or listened to the final of season 3 then you got a sneak peek at the titles coming to your earbuds this season, but if you’re not quite caught up there’s no need to worry - we’ve got you covered.

We think through our six titles really carefully for each season. We want a range of titles, not just for us but for you guys too. We want new and old, popular titles and hidden gems, the obvious books and the ones that make you go ‘huh, interesting’ - and I think we have an incredible line-up for this season. We’re both so excited for all six titles.

You can listen via Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and this very website!

The full list of the titles and release dates for your soon-to-be listening pleasure:

  • ‘The Whispering Dark’ by Kelly Andrew (7 February)

  • ‘A Lesson in Vengeance’ by Victoria Lee (21 February)

  • ‘Mexican Gothic’ by Silvia Moreno-Garcia (7 March)

  • ‘Interview With the Vampire’ by Anne Rice (21 March)

  • ‘The Things We Do to Our Friends’ by Heather Darwent (4 April)

  • ‘My Dearest Darkest’ by Kayla Cottingham (18 April)

We have fantasy, historical, cult vampire classics, debut novels and even some hopefully hidden gems on this list and we’re so excited to get stuck in. We would absolutely love it if you wanted to read along with us, but just listening and supporting us is the absolute best, so thank you.

Bring on season four of ‘The Dark Academcials’!

You can listen via Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and this very website!

(The podcast is also available on Castbox and Google Podcasts.)

If you want to read along this season, we have a list of every title we’ve tackled across the podcast so far that are available through bookshop.org to buy in a playlist below.
