5 dragon fantasy books to read after ‘Fourth Wing’

I know most people are looking for more fantasy romance (I refuse to say or type romantasy, I REFUSE), but what if it was the dragons that you want more of?

Dragons are a classic trope of fantasy and the novels that they feature in can be anywhere across the fantasy spectrum, which honestly makes it quite difficult to find the right ones for you if you don’t know what you’re looking for. So I’ve picked out a few ideas within classic high fantasy, spicy fantasy and cosy fantasy.

5 dragon fantasy books to read after ‘Fourth Wing’

While Robin Hobb’s ‘Dragon Keeper’ (the first book in ‘The Main Wild Chronicles’ and the third series in ‘Teh realm of the Elderlings’) is high fantasy, along with ‘The Priory of the Orange Tree’ by Samantha Shannon, ‘Dragonfall’ by LR Lam falls under spicy fantasy. Naomi Novik’s beloved ‘Temeraire’ series is alternate history fantasy set during the Napoleonic Wars and ‘A Natural History of Dragons’ by Marie Brennan is a cosy fantasy series that gives ‘Emily Wilde’s Encyclopaedia of Faeries’ energy.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have some dragons to meet.
