8 books that started as Reylo fanfiction
As I added Thea Guanzon’s ‘The Hurricane Wars’ to my currently reading shelf on Goodreads, I got a little peek at the reviews for the book and was shook to discover to that the book started out its life as Reylo fanfiction (Rey and Kylo from Star Wars). It’s a high fantasy novel and I’ve only ever known romance to come from Reylo fanfiction, I was so intrigued as to what other novels might secretly (or not so secretly) have started as fanfic.
I began some researching and I couldn’t believe how many books started their life as fanfiction, and Reylo specifically!

‘You, Again’ by Kate Goldbeck - a friends to lovers romance between Ari and Josh set in New York City
‘Go Hex Yourself’ by Jessica Clare - a modern paranormal romance about a woman who applies to take a job as the familiar to a witch, and she hates him
‘For Love and Bylines’ by Merrin Taylor - a young reporter is given the chance to infiltrate an exclusive school to report on a suspected embezzlement, but then a brooding English teacher catches her eye

I guess I should probably disclose my favourite fanfiction at this point, shouldn’t I? I was a loyal Dramione reader for years and years, and I read a Delena (Damon and Elena from ‘The Vampire Diaries’ that I think about on a regular basis, but I actually haven’t dabbled in a long time.
