Visiting the Disney Cafe in Primark Birmingham
Do you love Disney? Do you love food? Fantastic. We will get along just fine. One of the places in the UK that combines both of these things? The world's biggest Primark, just outside the Birmingham Bullring.
I had zero expectations for this as, you know, it's Primark. It's not known for quality. But it has become known for selling licensed merchandise, especially Disney.
When I visited in January 2024, the Stitch pop-up cafe had just reopened which meant I would be getting a 2-for-1 experience when it came to Disney dining. The Stitch cafe (having previously been given a Grinch makeover through the festive period) was where we hit first. A breakfast of waffles and brightly coloured milkshakes. What more could you want?
Obviously, the cafe was popular with children, and there were many. But as we were there quite early, we easily found a spot to sit, and it didn't take very long for our food to be prepared.
You have to really try if you want to muck up a waffle, you know? It is what it is.
Was it memorable? Not really. Was it nice? Yeah! And what you're really going for is the theming which was a lot of fun.
Now, stage two of the Disney dining experience came when we went further up the escalators. The main Disney cafe is here, and this is where the real action is.
This is sort of table service? They seat you at a table, but you place your own orders and they then bring it when it's ready.
The theming here is even better. As it’s not a pop up, it allows for a more in depth experience, I think. There's a fun interactive element to the tables where you can play games on the touchscreen top, and I loved the colour way throughout the place.
The food was fine. Having just eaten downstairs, we didn't order much. But what I did get was nice.
Again, it's not memorable, and I'm not rushing back there for the food. But if I was shopping at that Primark, it makes for a fun alternative for some lunch.
Food offerings include the usual including burgers, waffle fries, mozerella sticks etc. Food that fills a hole.
There is also a “Tasty by Greggs” cafe, which boasts the biggest Gregg’s in the world, because why not?
All in all, it's worth it if you're already there. But I wouldn't make a special trip for it (unless you're a Disney nut, like me).
(At the time of writing the Stitch pop-up has been turned into a Hello Kitty pop-up)
