9 Spicy Dark Academia Books to keep you warm this winter

Sophie and I cannot, and will not, confirm or deny whether these books are actually Dark Academia. It's not like we stake our whole reputation on making such decisions. It's not like we have a whole PODCAST dedicated to it…

That said, it has to be recognised that “Dark Academia” has become a bit of a buzzword (or buzzphrase?) to help market books that are maybe just dark romance in a moody college setting? That's the vibe I get. Also, do not misunderstand me. I have downloaded every last one of these books onto my Kindle with every intent of reading them.

Just beceause it may not be Dark Academia, doesn't mean I won't devour it.

Having not read any of these yet, I can't give you any kind of review or recommendations. However, I can say with great confidence that these titles will be wild, they'll be a little clunky, and one or two will make you question everything you thought you knew about your relationship with the “dark romance” genre.

I also can't judge the level of spiciness, but let's just assume there's some snogging or heavy petting, at the very least.

It's just a bit of fun, innit? And reading should always be fun.

Let's do this.

I've kept the listing description in the titles because I wanted to show you how “Dark Academia” is being used in SEO to help market these books:

  1. “Cruel Beginnings: A Dark Academia Enemies to Lovers Romance (Cruel World Book 1)” by Lili St. Germain and Lyra Parish

  2. “Pretty Girls Make Graves: a dark bully romance (Dark Academia Book 1)” by Tiffany Holmes

  3. “A Lesson in Love and Death: A Darkly Humorous, Dark Academia Gothic Romance (Endymion College Book 1)” by W. H. Lockwood

  4. “Court of Moonlight and Shadows: A Gothic Dark Academia Fantasy Romance (Nightshade University Book 1)” by Poppy Ireland

  5. “In Cold Blood: A Dark Academia Romance” by Anna Widzisz

  6. “Nocticadia: A Dark Academia Gothic Romance” by Kerri Lake

  7. “Twisted Circles: Dark Academia Romance (Secret Society)” by Claire Contreras

  8. “Cross My Heart: A Spicy Dark Academia Romance (The Oxford Legacy Book 1)” by Roxy Sloane

  9. “Enchant: Magical Dark Academia Erotica Novella (Bellamarre College of Magic Book 1)” by Josie Darling

Do any of these catch your eye? I'll get back to you when I've read some of them. Wish me luck!
